My Large Conference Changing Reservationless Conferencing In A Big Way

We did a very subtle and quiet thing in a blog post a few weeks back.  We let you all know that the (conferencing) game has changed.  But we did not set off fireworks.  We did not make an appearance on MSNBC.  We might have had a small company cheers.  Mostly, we have been hard at work trying to educate people on how awesome this actually is…because this idea seems a little tough for people to get.  A Reservationless Conferencing platform that can handle up to 1000 people?  Nope, not happening.  Oh, and it costs about ⅕ of what a normal call like this would cost?  Okay, now you are just being rude.  Well, we were not.  It’s really here, and we call it My Large Conference.

Let me help you get your head around My Large Conference by offering up a little history.  Not long ago a reservation was required for pretty much every conference call over 3 people.  That all changed with the invention of the Reservationless Conferencing bridge.  Up to 300 callers with no reservation, a consistent toll-free number, and usually low per minute charge.  This became the conferencing standard and it’s what the Lighthouse team cut our teeth on.  Operator Assisted never went away (or rather, reservation-required conferencing).  As we have documented we also don’t think it is ever going away.  But there is a gap there.  The need for large scale consistent communications at a good price is what people have been asking for.  They want to control the process themselves since this is usually a broadcast-type of call.  This solution did not exist until recently and we love it!

One thing we get asked regularly when it comes to My Large Conference is about the functionality.  Does it allow the moderator of the call to manage the call?  The short answer is yes, the functionality that people love with Reservationless mostly translates to My Large Conference.  What we get asked about the most are the recording and muting functionality at the moderator level.  Still there, still works extremely well.

The other thing we get asked is whether My Large conference will work for a specific customer’s need.  The answer is “potentially”.  We pride ourselves at Lighthouse on being a solutions-based Client Success organization.  We know there are situations where My Large Conference won’t be the BEST solution for our customers, but until we are able to talk through your specific needs we don’t really know for sure.  There are situations where we will advise that Operator Assisted (or even webcasting) will be the best solution for you.  And there will be times when utilizing My Large Conference will be the best, easiest, and most cost effective solution.

Lighthouse Conferencing is committed to working with our clients to find the best solution, and My Large Conference is a direct result of customer interactions we have had over the last few years.  The idea of bringing 1000 people together in an on-demand environment is something that has become a more frequent conversation we have been having with customers and prospects.  Financial services firms, international ministries, large dispersed sales teams, weekly town hall meetings, and national associations have all expressed interest in services like My Large Conference.  We heard you loud and clear!  Let’s talk about what would work best for you!
